This morning, my daughter came into my office and noticed a piece of paper I have up on the wall.
On this paper is a poem.
‘Abort, Retry, Ignore’
It’s a parody of The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe.
So, I had to explain about the original poem, (the internet is a wonderful thing) I found the poem and read it to her, breaking off after some verses to explain what was happening.
We discussed it and she felt it was not very scary. Probably a comment on my delivery than the actual scariness of the poem.
Then, I had a brainwave. Alan Parsons Project did an album of music inspired by EA Poe stories. So, I dug that out of my MP3 collection.
Daughter was less than impressed. But felt, after I delivered a synposis of the stories of ‘Tell Tale Heart’ and ‘Cask of Amontilado’ that those where probably too scarey for her just yet.
I love being able to do things like that with my kids. The internet is truely an enabling technology.
